My child has settled in well & enjoys school.

I don’t think it is widely known to most who governors are, especially those who are not parents, but within the community.

...the playground can be/appear quite cliquey for some people

At what age would it be beneficial for the child to sit in (on parents evenings) ?

Social interaction skills could be developed more. This should include public speaking. Confidence should be nurtured.

Unfortunately some of the parents do form a clique socialising out of school, therefore the children maintain the same groups in school. It is awkward for anyone outside this group coming into the school as apparent or for the children. This is only noticeable as the school is small.

We keep a close eye on our child’s progress so there are no nasty surprises

I feel the school should have a more balanced approach to the arts. Not all children are into football and sports. Drama and dance, art, singing etc could be encouraged further along with more of Eco club or nature study, birds, bugs etc.

A scale of 1 – 10 would have been better placed for some of these questions.

There is a place for homework of course. But there is always so much. It continues to be the bain of our weekends when I feel the children should be able to enjoy playing, family activities, gardening, etc

Reports seem a waste of time. I read the paragraph written specifically about my child and the rest  seems to be ticking national curriculum targets.

Open toed sandals should be allowed, no silly rules about not wearing fleeces without jumpers, PE kit was fine as it was.

Water bottles are a great idea- maybe the school could buy their own – a branded bottle is very cheap on line

 All Year 6s “outgrew”school

Would like to have assemblies where children participate/present so they get used to standing up and presenting in front of an audience and parents are invited once a term.

Would like booklet on maths process as cannot make workshop in daytime.

Would like to see a foreign language taught at an early age e.g.French.

Front desk is not always as welcoming as it could be.

Initial communication on starting at the school was very poor and v. Late. I assume this has now been rectified for new starters under new management.

I would love the school to have a tie as compulsory wear.

The school rules are a mystery to me and some seem to have evolved into pedantic rules with no reasoning, others seem to apply to some not others.

Communication with parents is haphazard.  Homework very inconsistent, no idea of progress regarding this.

No encouragement to show workings. No feedback from homework. Often felt given for sake of it.  Some governors NEVER turn up to school events. ...parent governors are excellent, but can only do so much.

Handwriting is improving but has been very poor. I sometimes feel rushed at these (parents) meetings.

Homework quantity is very variable and not always at the right level. Feedback from homework is patchy.                                               Talented children are not pushed

KS2 (boys especially)  are disengaged.

I can see that some improvements are in progress – if I make criticisms it is only because I believe Luckington can (and should) be the best school on the planet!
